Is paneer chilla good for a gym diet?

It has some protein (5.6 g per 100 calories), but not enough to lean on. Pair it with dal, paneer or curd to fill the gap.

The biggest share of its calories come from fat (40%), then carbs (38%) and protein (23%).

What's in it

Made with urad dal, moong dal, green chillies, coriander leaves, ginger, onions, paneer and lemons or limes, plus spices and cooking oil or ghee. Each extra teaspoon of oil or ghee adds about 44 calories, which is where home and restaurant versions differ most.

How to make it

Takes about 20 minutes.

  1. Make a besan or moong batter with salt and a pinch of turmeric.
  2. Crumble paneer and mix with chopped onion, coriander and chilli.
  3. Spread the batter thin on a hot pan.
  4. Sprinkle the paneer mix on top, press it in, and cook until golden underneath.
  5. Fold and serve.
