What is GymSensei?
GymSensei is a workout planner and calorie counter in one app. It builds a weekly gym plan for your goal and equipment, sets your calorie and protein targets, plans meals from food you already eat, and uses your phone's camera to count reps and check your form.
Is GymSensei free?
Yes. GymSensei is free to download and use, and it has no ads. You can use it as a guest with no account. Signing in with Google or Apple is optional and only backs up your data, so you can get it back on a new phone.
How does the form check work?
Prop your phone up side-on, about two to three metres away. GymSensei tracks 13 points on your body right on the phone, counts only full reps, and says a short cue when it spots a fault, like a dropping chest or sagging hips. It works for 16 exercises.
Does the camera video leave my phone?
No. Pose tracking runs on your phone and the camera feed is never uploaded. If you choose to film a set, the video is saved on your phone, and it only goes anywhere if you share it yourself.
Which exercises can the camera count?
Squats, Push-ups, Lunges, Romanian deadlifts, Overhead press, Curls, Planks, Glute bridges, Sit-ups, Leg raises, Lateral raises, Bent-over rows, Jumping jacks, Pull-ups, Wall sits and side planks. The workout planner itself has more than 870 exercises, each with a how-to guide.
Can I log Indian food?
Yes. GymSensei knows thousands of foods from Indian cuisine and around the world. Type or say what you ate in plain words, like "2 roti and a katori dal" or "two eggs and toast", and it logs real portion sizes. You can also scan the barcode on packaged food.
Does GymSensei work offline?
Yes. Your plan, workout logging, form check, food logging and meal plans all work without internet. You only need a connection to sign in and back up, to look up a barcode, or to use crews with friends.
Is it good for beginners?
Yes. It was made for beginners and people getting back into the gym. Every exercise has a how-to guide, the plan tells you the weight and reps for each set, and every sixth week is a lighter one so your body can catch up.
Which phones does it run on?
Android phones on Android 8.0 or later, and iPhones on iOS 15.5 or later. It works with Health Connect on Android and Apple Health on iPhone for weight and sleep.
